Repent

REPENTANCE

  • (A complete reversal of one's attitude and values, i. e. a turning toward God)

—Nave's Topics

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matt 4:17 (KJV)

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Mark 1:14-15 (KJV)

I would never want anyone to die in the same spiritual condition that I was in for a large portion of my life.  You see, I did what people said to do to get saved.  I prayed, read my bible, and was even an interim youth pastor once…..but I wasn’t saved.  I can remember being at church when I was young and just really being confused about salvation.

Now, I do believe people can get saved at any age, but for me it was much later in life.  Jesus said we have to repent.  As a matter of fact, this was the message of He and His disciples especially toward the end of His ministry on earth.

I remember telling a pastor of mine one night, “Pastor, I just don’t feel saved!”  “ I’ve said the prayer and I BELIEVE in God, but I just don’t feel like if I died tonight that I would go to heaven”.  His answer was to tell me just to relax, that I’m over thinking things.  This is very important, so please pay attention……………If I had just stopped searching and taught myself not to worry about my salvation, I would probably be lost and hell bound right now.

Listen to your heart……It will tell you whether you are saved, or whether you are just convincing yourself that you are.  Repent!  You have to.  You have to be able to turn your life over to Christ, which WILL give you a new list of priorities in life, I promise.  I still sin, as we all will.  We are all sinners, just some are saved and some are lost.  Pray for God to show you your life as He sees it.  The 10 Commandments will help do this also.

A little more serious today, but I’ve learned to write what I feel God leading me to write.

God Bless!

When does satan attack?

When does Satan attack?

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matt 4:1-4 (KJV)

I couldn’t sleep, so I’ve been reading and studying my bible.  My Aunt is really sick, so I ask all of you to put Gail Brannon on your prayer list.  That must be whats on my mind for me to not be able to sleep.

Anyway, I started reading in Matthew and got to the above verses.  They got me to thinking……..When does Satan (the world) seem to attack us?  Of course he can and will attack us at anytime, but look at the verses.  Jesus had just come off of a 40 day fast, He was hungry and fatigued.  THEN Satan shows up to temp Him.  That is not by accident.  When we are weak or sick or emotionally hurting, that is when the devil will appear to us in many forms in order to temp us.

What’s interesting to me is that while satan was tempting Jesus with food and worldly things, Jesus always responded to him in the spiritual realm.  Satan says “ hey Jesus, if you are hungry, just turn the rocks into bread”.  I love Jesus’ response……………Im paraphrasing here…. “Satan, one’s spiritual health is much more important than one’s physical health” .  This had to infuriate satan, I mean, here Jesus is hungry for physical food for His body  but all He is concerned with is Spiritual food.

I know I’m rambling on and I’m sure you all get the point so I’ll leave you with this thought………………..As a Christian, if you die physically you merely move on to an eternity with God, but if you are not saved (spiritually dead) and you die, you will move on to an eternity in darkness, separated from God’s love.  Tell someone about Jesus and what He did for you!  Use your life as a testimony!  God Bless!

Wisdom

Are you wise?

James 3:16-18  KJV

(Jas 3:16)  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

(Jas 3:17)  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

(Jas 3:18)  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

James is my favorite book of the bible because he tells it like it is.  Think about this….The world is more educated now than ever, more people have gone or are going to college than any other time in history.  So if all of this education is flowing through people, then why so many problems?   WISDOM!  You can get some knowledge from school but wisdom comes from God.

Wisdom is what lets us know who to vote for or what friends to have in our lives.  Now we all fail in many areas because we are not perfect, but wisdom allows us to know that we are not perfect.  The point to all of this rambling this morning is this…..Wisdom only comes from God.  Ask God to grant you wisdom and He will.  How do I know that?  Read James 1:5

Have a blessed day!
