Ephesians 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been
brought near by the blood of Christ.
I awoke this morning just yearning to have a good bible
study and prayer session with God. I
did. I read Ephesians. There are soo many verses that we could spend
hours on, but for the sake of blog length I narrowed it down to this one.
Paul is talking about the gentiles here, which would be you
and me. He is saying that at one time
the promises of God were really for the Jews, but because of Jesus they are now
also for the gentiles. Praise God! The great thing though about God’s living
word is that it can apply to anyone at any time. Today I want to use this verse to discuss the
blessing of salvation.
Since I am sitting here trying to keep my child quiet while
I write this, I will use one of his toys as an example of what I want to
say. When you are not saved, you are
like a little rubber duckie in the middle of the vast ocean. Every wave that comes sends you where it
may. Every storm that comes takes you to
far off places in your life that may not make any sense. We’ve all been in far off places of sin, and
like that duckie we have no direction, or even if we did we have no means of
steering through the rough waters.
Then in the midst of the storm you see a light in the
distance and hear a small still voice calling to you. Come to me.
You notice that as you get closer to that voice, the darkness becomes
more light filled and you are able for the first time to see where you are
going. When you make it to the voice you
see it’s Jesus. Even though you didn’t
know it before, you now realize you have been lost. Jesus, with the power of His might, gives you
light in the darkness and the ability to steer through it. He only asks that you believe in him and use
Him as a guide through the rest of your life.
You see, because Jesus died on the cross for YOU and ME, we
now no longer have to be far from God’s grace, and no longer have to go through
life wondering what is right or wrong.
But, remember the love He showed us on that cross. We should help others who are being tossed
back and forth by this world.
Have a Great Weekend!
God Bless!
